Welcome to our studio
Timbre & Tone Music Studio was created to share our love of music and teaching. The studio’s main priority is to instruct and support individuals to become well-rounded musicians and to explore music in a fun and open environment. Whether interested in studying classical or contemporary music, history or theory, each lesson is unique and geared specifically to the students strengths, weaknesses and interests. Because of this, we use a variety of different curriculum/repertoire books depending on the student’s goals. Private piano lessons are offered to anyone age 5 and older with no previous training required. Private vocal lessons are offered to anyone aged 12 and older with previous musical experience.

With dedicated enthusiasm, Katherine Ahlf has established herself as a music teacher, student, performer and accompanist in both the work setting and alongside her peers. She has several years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels of playing.
Born and raised north of Edson, Alberta, Katherine proved herself a very driven music student from a young age and was very involved with art festivals and performances in the community as well as completing exams through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Through high school she began teaching piano part-time as well as volunteering as the assistant director of an after school performance group.
In 2014, she continued her musical pursuits in Red Deer College’s Music Diploma Program where she majored in Classical Piano under the tutorage of Dr. Dale Wheeler. While in school she participated in many performances in both solo settings and in ensembles such as the chamber choir, piano ensemble and percussion ensemble. As extracurricular, Katherine studied secondary voice lessons under Dr. Jeanette Gallant, served as the secretary of the RDC Music Society and took part in the Alberta Youth Honour Choir (2015 and 2016). Katherine graduated from Red Deer College in June of 2016, completing her diploma with semesters on both the President’s and Dean’s Honour Role. While at RDC she received the Harvard Broadcasting Music Excellence Scholarship, The Keith Mann Memorial Scholarship, The Affairs of the Arts Music Performance Competition Scholarship and the Louise Mckinney Post-Secondary Scholarship (provincial) as well as several others.
After graduating from RDC, Katherine moved to Calgary to teach in a private studio setting. While here she continued studying under Dr. Wheeler, finishing her Level 10 piano exam with the Royal Conservatory of Music and began working on her ARCT Pedagogy diploma also from the RCM. After several years of developing her skill, education and teaching, Katherine returned to her hometown in 2017 and opened Timbre & Tone Music Studio to share her knowledge with the community.
